Luke Humphreys- President, Central West Rugby Union

Ladies and Gentlemen, as President of the Central West Rugby Union, it is my honour to welcome you to the Mudgee Rugby Club who are hosting the New Holland & Westfund North Grand Finals. Today marks the culmination of an incredible season filled with fierce competition, outstanding sportsmanship, and the true spirit of rugby.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to all our volunteers, whose tireless efforts behind the scenes have made this season possible. Your dedication and hard work are the backbone of the rugby community, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

To our players, your commitment, passion, and skill have brought us to this exciting finale. You’ve given your all, week in and week out, and your efforts have been nothing short of inspiring.

To our sponsors New Holland & Westfund, thank you for your support of these competitions and the union. Without this fantastic sponsorship we are unable to provide the services to our clubs that we do.

As we gather here to witness these thrilling matches between Parkes and Wellington, Mudgee and Dubbo Rhino’s and Mudgee and Narromine. I wish all teams the very best of luck. May the games reflect your hard work and dedication. Make sure you leave everything on the field. However more importantly enjoy each other’s company and share a well-earned beer afterwards.

Thank you all for being a part of this wonderful day and let’s enjoy some fantastic rugby.

Nathan Pearce – President, Central West Rugby Union Referees Association

To the Central West Rugby Community,

On behalf of the Central West Rugby Union Referees Association, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Mudgee, Narromine and Dubbo Rhino’s for making it to the New Holland Cup Grand Final and Parkes and Wellington for making it to the Westfund North Grand Final as well. Your dedication and hard work have brought you to this pinnacle moment, and we are all looking forward to three great grand finals.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our dedicated volunteers, club presidents, and everyone who has contributed to supporting the referees throughout the year.

Your efforts in making them welcome and included at your club are vital to ensuring they remain linked to the game. Also, a further thank you to all clubs in the New Holland and Westfund North competitions for the smooth running of our matches and the overall success of the season. Well done.

Most importantly, I want to express my deepest gratitude to our referees. Your commitment to upholding the integrity of the game and ensuring fair play is invaluable. Without your hard work and dedication, none of this would be possible.

Thank you all for a fantastic season, and best of luck to everyone in the Grand Final.

Ros Lee – President – Mudgee Rugby Club

As we gather for this momentous 2024 New Holland Cup and Westfund North Cup Grand Final, it is with great pride and gratitude that I acknowledge the incredible support that has brought us to this point. A heartfelt thank you to all our sponsors and particularly our major club sponsor, Bowdens Silver, whose unwavering support has been instrumental in our success. We are equally grateful to our senior club sponsor, The Oriental Hotel, for their generous backing throughout the season, as they have for many years.

To our 1st and 2nd Grade players and coaches, your dedication, hard work, and commitment have been truly inspiring. The determination and sportsmanship displayed on the field have been nothing short of extraordinary. A special thank you to our volunteers, whose tireless efforts behind the scenes have ensured that everything runs smoothly. Without you, none of this would be possible.

To our loyal supporters, your enthusiasm and encouragement have been a driving force for our club. Your presence has made a world of difference, and we are so fortunate to have such a passionate community behind us.

As we celebrate our 150th anniversary, there is no more fitting way to mark this milestone than with this marvellous achievement. Let’s cherish this moment and continue to build on the legacy of Mudgee Rugby Club.

We extend a warm welcome to the Narromine Gorillas and Dubbo Rhinos, who have travelled to Mudgee today to participate in the New Holland Cup, as well as to the Wellington Redbacks and Parkes Boars competing in the Westfund North Cup. We are honoured to host you all on this special day.

Thank you also to Jarrod Simpson, CEO of Central West Rugby, for his support and coordination of the competition.

Mackenzie Green – President- Parkes Boars

As we close out another season of rugby, I’d like to thank Choppy, CWRU and our competitors for the year, it takes a lot of hard work to get to this point in the season and the Boars love every opportunity we have to go out there and play against these great teams.

This season hasn’t been without its challenges but everyone in our club has pulled through and come out the other side with a successful year. Our Juniors have been strong, and we have some real talent coming through the ranks that we can’t wait to keep watching. Having Colts back has been great and a real boost to morale in the club. Grade struggled this year, but our boys hung in there and made finals. Our Ladies are who we are here to see today though, they have made us extremely proud this year with the way they have represented the club on and off the field, they secured themselves the Minor Premiership and now there is just one more job to do.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to say thank you to our sponsors, supporters, volunteers and officials. Without any of you we wouldn’t have a club like this! Your continued support of the Parkes Boars is greatly appreciated and without it our players wouldn’t be able to take the field every week and do what they love.

Thank you to our players, you are what makes this club tick. It makes me proud to go out and play alongside you or watch you play. I love watching people play with commitment and heart and we have it by the truckload.

Lastly, I would like to wish our Ladies good luck in the Grand Final, you have done us extremely proud this season. I hope you take the time to enjoy the day because days like this are special and don’t come around very often. Enjoy your time with your team mates and make sure to have fun out on the field. The club will be cheering you on and I’ll make sure you can hear us loud and clear.

Up the Boars!

Congratulations and thank you to the Mudgee Wombats for hosting this year’s Grand Final. It has been another successful year for the New Holland Cup. Thank you to Central West for again enabling a great competition and encouraging rugby within the region.

The Narromine Gorillas have had a great year on the Rugby field with second grade finishing Minor Premiers and 1st Grade qualifying for today’s Grand Final for the first time since 2019. We have a fantastic group of young players who have made playing rugby very enjoyable.

Thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters for their continued support. Our rugby club would not exist without you.

Congratulations and good luck to all clubs playing today and in particular good luck to our Narromine players. You thoroughly deserve this opportunity.

Go the Gorillas!
