Luke Humphreys- President, Central West Rugby Union

Ladies and Gentlemen, as President of the Central West Rugby Union, it is my honour to welcome you to the Boorowa Rugby Club who are hosting the South West Fuels Cup Grand Finals. Today marks the culmination of an incredible season filled with fierce competition, outstanding sportsmanship, and the true spirit of rugby.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to all our volunteers, whose tireless efforts behind the scenes have made this season possible. Your dedication and hard work are the backbone of the rugby community, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

To our players, your commitment, passion, and skill have brought us to this exciting finale. You’ve given your all, week in and week out, and your efforts have been nothing short of inspiring.

To our sponsors South West Fuels thank you for your support of these competitions and the union. Without this fantastic sponsorship we are unable to provide the services to our clubs that we do.

As we gather here to witness these thrilling matches between Temora and West Wyalong and then Boorowa and Harden, I wish all teams the very best of luck. May the games reflect your hard work and dedication. Make sure you leave everything on the field. However more importantly enjoy each other’s company and share a well-earned beer afterwards.

Thank you all for being a part of this wonderful day and let’s enjoy some fantastic rugby.

Bill McCrone– President Temora Rugby Union Club

Well done to Central West and all the other clubs on another successful South West season. It’s always good to see such a high quality of country rugby being played across our region. And great to see the Condobolin club back playing rugby.

Congratulations to Boorowa, Harden and West Wyalong who have made it through to their respective deciders today. Thanks to all the clubs that have played in the women’s comp and made it such a competitive and fun competition to be involved in. Hopefully we see a few more clubs field sides next year and we get a bit more rugby for the women next season.

A big thankyou to all of Temora’s sponsors and supporters that have followed our sides around this year. It wouldn’t be possible or anywhere near the same without you.

And well done to our Tuskerettes. We’ve had a solid core of players and a few cameos to help us out that have played some great footy. You deserve your shot at glory today and here’s hoping you can bring the cup back to Temora.

Lou McCabe – President West Wyalong Rugby Union Club

It is an absolute privilege, not only to serve as President of this great club, but also to take the field alongside this incredible group of women. Making the Grand Final on Saturday, 23rd August in Boorowa is a moment I will treasure, and one that few presidents have the honour of experiencing in this way.

The dedication, resilience, and camaraderie shown by our team throughout the season reflects the true spirit of rugby — built on hard work, respect, and mateship. As a club, we are immensely proud of what has been achieved, both on and off the field.

We know our supporters and sponsors will be right behind us as we take on this challenge, and it is that collective strength that makes the Redbacks who we are. Temora are not to be underestimated and we are expecting a tough and physical game, but I believe the Redbacks have what it takes to get us over the line and bring home the premiership.

Charlie Brown – President Harden Rugby Union Club

As we approach the Grand Final, I want to take the time to sincerely thank all of our committee members, our volunteers, sponsors and supporters who have made this season so memorable already. Your time, passion, energy and dedication has helped these blokes in such a massive way throughout the year and I’m sure you are all very proud of their achievements so far.

To our players, congratulations on your season so far. We have grown not only as rugby players but as mates this year and have bred one of the strongest playing groups I’ve ever been a part of. Whatever happens today everyone is so proud of the job you’ve done representing our proud club. However, I truly believe we have the ability, the resilience and the passion to come away from today premiers. You’ve all done the hard work, now it’s time to trust yourselves, trust your structures and trust one another. The whole town is behind you boys and I wish you the best of luck.

Adam Hick – President Boorowa Rugby Union Club

The Goldies hit the ground running this year, with plenty of motivation being drawn from a narrow loss in last year’s grand final. Coaches Keagan, Toby and Poppy have got the boys fired up and ready to go with plenty of depth and experience throughout the team, as well as some fresh faces. Anytime we play Harden it is always a close-run race and expect this weekend to be no different.

I would like to thank all of the sponsors, committee members, volunteers and past Boorowa players for all their tireless efforts this year. The club simply would not be what it is without you. Also, a huge thank you to the wider Boorowa community, the level of support that has been shown towards the club the last few seasons has been incredible, and it has been so great seeing the town painted gold in the lead up to the game.
