Luke Humphreys- President, Central West Rugby Union

Ladies and Gentlemen, as President of the Central West Rugby Union, it is my honour to welcome you to the Orange Emus Rugby Club who are hosting the Blowes Cup & Westfund Ferguson Grand Finals. Today marks the culmination of an incredible season filled with fierce competition, outstanding sportsmanship, and the true spirit of rugby.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to all our volunteers, whose tireless efforts behind the scenes have made this season possible. Your dedication and hard work are the backbone of the rugby community, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

To our players, your commitment, passion, and skill have brought us to this exciting finale. You’ve given your all, week in and week out, and your efforts have been nothing short of inspiring.

To our sponsors Blowes Clothing & Westfund, thank you for your support of these competitions and the union. Without this fantastic sponsorship we are unable to provide the services to our clubs that we do.

As we gather here to witness these thrilling matches, I wish all teams the very best of luck. May the games reflect your season of hard work and dedication. Make sure you leave everything on the field. However more importantly enjoy each other’s company and share a well-earned beer afterwards.

Thank you all for being a part of this wonderful season and let’s enjoy some fantastic rugby.

Luke Humphreys

President

Central West Rugby Union

Nathan Pearce – President, Central West Rugby Union Referees Association

To the Central West Rugby Community,

On behalf of the Central West Rugby Union Referees Association, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Bathurst Bulldogs, Orange Emus and Dubbo Kangaroo’s for making it to the Blowes Cup and Westfund Ferguson Grand Finals.

Your dedication and hard work have brought you to this pinnacle moment, and we are all looking forward to five great grand finals.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our dedicated volunteers, club presidents, and everyone who has contributed to supporting the referees throughout the year.

Your efforts in making them welcome and included at your club are vital to ensuring they remain linked to the game. Also, a further thank you to all clubs in the Blowes and Westfund Ferguson competitions for the smooth running of our matches and the overall success of the season. Well done.

I would also like to mention Ian Richardson. Ian commenced refereeing in Western Plains Rugby before commencing refereeing in the Central West in the early to mid 1980’s. During this time Ian also refereed at multiple NSW Country Championships.

After retiring from refereeing Ian remained involved in the CWRU as a referee coach a role he has continued to fulfill weekly until he announced his retirement this week.

There would be few referees in Central West and NSW Country who have not benefitted from their interactions with Ian.

On behalf of the Central West Referee association, I sincerely thank Ian for all his work as a referee and a referee coach over the past 45 years. Thank you, Richo you will be missed.

Most importantly, I want to express my deepest gratitude to our referees. Your commitment to upholding the integrity of the game and ensuring fair play is invaluable. Without your hard work and dedication, none of this would be possible.

Thank you all for a fantastic season, and best of luck to everyone in the Grand Final.

Nathan Pearce

President
